Business Coaching
Led by Ian Bonner, PsyD and Owner of Freelife Behavioral Health
As the current owner a group practice and former CEO of 30+ clinician practice, it is a passion of mine to help other clinicians achieve success and gain confidence in building and developing their practices. Like all business coaches, I offer support around managing finances, HR issues, ethical concerns, niche building, and branding/marketing. More importantly however, my true passion is helping business owners thread the needle of becoming a savvy business owner, a good and caring therapist, and a respected employer all at the same time.
Tailored Support For Your Leadership Challenges
Most practice owners seeking support are less in need of being “told what to do” and instead need a caring thought partner that understands that leaders are people first, and want support tailored to their unique set of needs. While coaching is not therapy, it will be important for me to get to know a little about your life, values, and experiences, and learn how these inform which aspects of leadership may come naturally to you, and which may cause discomfort or avoidance. Common areas of discomfort leaders explore in coaching are fear of conflict, talking frankly about money, setting boundaries with staff, acknowledging clinical and business skill gaps, outsourcing tasks we do not want to do, and managing feelings around power and hierarchy.
Finding Your Vision
Mental health providers often lament that that their graduate education did little to prepare them for the realities of owning a running a business. Many of us were told implicitly or explicitly that we should not prioritize money and that talking about it with clients, peers, or employees is somehow shameful. This creates a stressful and confusing situation for practice owners who are trying very hard to run a healthy, compassionate, and lucrative organization where these conversations are critical. In working together, we will explore your vision for a financially successful and harmonious practice and work on ways to improve your practices and managing change effectively through.
Reaching Your Goals
After assessing your values, goals, strengths, and growth areas, you and I will develop a plan for getting your practice to where you want it to go. This may look like growth and expansion, deepening a niche or focus, or even thoughtfully contracting a practice that is too unwieldy. Whatever your goals, we will break down the process into digestible and actionable steps in a thoughtful and intentional way.
In coaching, we will work toward your personal and unique goals for growth, stability, and harmony within your organization. Please reach out for a free consultation to hear more and see if I might be a good fit for your needs. I hope to hear from you soon.
