  • About Freelife Behavioral Heath

    Freelife Behavioral Health is a small group psychotherapy practice in Chicago currently offering telehealth and in-person mental health services in Illinois. Freelife serves a variety of clients with a range of clinical needs while also providing a non-exclusive focus on serving LGBTQ+ individuals and the poly/kink communities. Services offered include psychotherapy, psychological testing, and medication management. Dr. Ian Bonner is the founder and owner of Freelife and has been in practice over 10 years focusing on providing high quality therapy to clients in LGBTQ+ focused settings, university counseling centers, and addiction focused IOP’s. Dr. Bonner also regularly offers workshops on LGBTQ+ inclusivity and Trans Affirming Clinical Care. Freelife’s small and dynamic team is comprised of talented and warm individuals who share a passion for LGBTQ+ affirming work and building a caring and supportive work environment.

  • General Information: Staff Therapist Position

    The Staff Therapist position Freelife is ideal for a candidate who is excited to work with individuals, couples, poly relationships, and/or groups who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. An ideal candidate will have expressed interest and experience in providing treatment to LGBTQ+ clients and be comfortable working remotely. In-person therapy may be possible for this position 1 day per week but is not required. The Staff Therapist will also be exposed to many aspects of private practice business management and gain understanding of how one is run and operated. Ideally, this position will feel only moderately challenging and emphasizes the self-care of the clinician through reasonable and flexible work expectations. The Staff Therapist will report directly to Dr. Bonner and will have regular meetings with him designed to support the candidate in all aspects on onboarding and fulfilling job requirements.

  • Optional Additional Professional Activities

    The primary role of the Staff Therapist is to provide therapy to individuals and couples. Should the Staff Therapist desire, qualified candidates may be assigned psychological testing cases to be provided to Freelife clients at our physical location. The Staff Therapist may also wish to design and implement therapy groups on topics they are interested in. Clinical Psychologists with significant experience may also have the opportunity to supervise other clinicians in training.

  • Requirements of Staff Therapist

    - Conduct an average of 25 telehealth psychotherapy sessions per week from home or another quiet and private space

    - Learn and utilize the functions of electronic healthcare records systems

    - Complete progress notes, intakes, and treatment plans within 48 hours of sessions

    - Complete and submit all materials necessary for timely billing of clients

    - Actively assist in filling own caseload by responding to online requests for therapists.

    - Attend all ethically or legally required trainings / workshops

    - Fellow must reside in IL and hold or be close to obtaining IL license

  • Benefits and Compensation

    - Compensation is highly competitive and based on a percentage of fees collected

    - Time off is flexible and adaptive to the needs of the clinician. It is expected that clinician will take about 4 weeks off per year and more can be requested if needed.

    - Liability insurance will be provided or paid for during employment.

    - $500/year is available for training courses and materials
